GLOBAL LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE (GLE) COURSES

GLE focuses on advancing global and community citizenship and competency. The course addresses the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) values in creating a global citizenship across cultures.  GLE curricular provide appropriate opportunities to scholars to learn how to achieve the Global skills competencies and engineering workforce development activities to support their success and leadership development and readiness to function in global company by developing soft skills in addition to high quality career preparation.  Whether in or out of classroom or in the corporate workplace, these GLE courses are designed to educate and build the understanding global challenges for the professional role of educators, administrators, leaders navigating the culture and climate that support the excellence and inspiration of  generations of learners. Institutionally, studies have shown that the lack of “intercultural competence” (the ability to think and act in a culturally appropriate way) can have a measurable impact on communication skills. Teachers or supervisors that lack intercultural competency are less likely to apply academic or work standards in an equitable manner. The American Psychological Association’s (APA) thirteenth Learner-Centered Principle states: “Learning is most effective when differences in learners’ linguistic, cultural, and social backgrounds are taken into account.”

KLI-TTD- 2208W: COACHING AND MENTORSHIP SUPPORT SERVICES

DESCRIPTION

This workshop explores the key strategies and best practices for designing and implementing effective coaching and mentorship services that support growth in employees, leadership and management growth for supervisors, and students ( low and high performing students in core subject areas, such as needed for science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) education). Established research and more immediate case studies are discussed in terms of extra support to better prepare and help students succeed in STEM curriculum. The workshop frames coaching as a process of motivating students and junior employees to be independent learners through relational mentorship, facilitating learning supports inside and outside of the school or workforce environment, and developing problem-solving skills and success attitudes that lead to success. KLI-TTD 2216: ICT -ENABLED EDUCATION- INQUIRY AND RESEARCH-BASED TEACHING/LEARNING FOR SCIENCE TEACHERS.

DESCRIPTION

This is an inquiry and research-based teaching/learning course that enhances teachers’ current ef- forts to render introductory science courses more effectively and exciting at the secondary level. This program uses the outcomes of science education research along with flexible computer tools to pro- mote activity-based models of teaching and learning. Teachers will learn not only how to improve teaching but how to use questions to help students find their own answers; qualitative questions are included to emphasize the concepts and reasoning skills.

 This is a technical course focusing on the principles, procedures and methods used for international environmental impact assessments. A detailed background discussion and measurement matrix will be provided for water, soils, air, socio-economic, landscape, visual and quality of life impacts as they relate to the environmental impact assessment process.
