Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) focuses on research and development of sustainable agricultural product production, preservation, and processing. GIRT-CARD will research and develop food ecosystems that are culturally relevant to local needs. The center provide agricultural mini-investment grants to local farmers for agricultural projects—farming, fishery, poultry, horticulture etc., for the local market. -CARD vision is to be the most comprehensive sustainable food, agriculture, and environmental education program in sub-Saharan African. Students and local entrepreneurs will be trained through a comprehensive residential and distance learning courses and agricultural and food laboratories. Faculty and students will collaborate with local, regional, national, and international partners to produce tools that advance the processing of agricultural products, improve the food system and its impact on the environment, public health and local economies. CARD will focus on:

• Acquire or erect research warehouses and any other premises for the promotion of speedy growth of crops, vegetable, fruits or flowers to sell the produce thereof by wholesale.
• Carry on the research-informed business of arable and fruits farmers. millers and manufacturers of cereal products and the sale by fruit and all cereal or farm products. wholesale or retail of flour,
• Carry on the research-informed business as manual and mechanical farmers, agricultural business, and to breed, fattening cattle for purpose of sale or distribution to the community
